Why Little Way Home Educators and not St. Therese of Lisieux Home Educators?
When the founding members were discussing potential names for our group and hit upon St. Therese, we knew we wanted her to be our patron saint. Then, as soon as someone mentioned "Little Way Home Educators", we each smiled and nodded. The name not only references our Catholic identity and patroness, but it also reminds us:
- to live our callings as home educators with a heart for God and a desire to live each of the little ways of our days with love.
- that our group is beginning in small, little ways.
- that each of our little ways springs from and gives glory to the God's generous love.
As St. Therese stated, "You know well enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at the love with which we do them." We seek to support and encourage one another in doing all things with love.
How does our Patroness inform our behavior?
Saint Therese of Lisieux once said, "Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.”
These words are our guiding policy for behavior and interaction.
We expect every parent and child within Little Way Home Educators to extend courtesy, respect, kindness, and Christian charity to one another and to any and all property we use. We also expect that within the spirit of a community of faith, parents are primarily responsible for their own children's safety and behavior, yet any adult in the group can offer any child loving guidance.
